CellBeat: Actuating nanostructured polymer microcarriers for pluripotent stem-cell derived cardiomyocyte expansion and maturation
Regenerative therapies require large quantities of functional cellular equivalents to restore or repair injured or diseased native tissues. The CELLBEAT project aims to prepare the next generation of polymer microcarriers that show stimuli-responsive actuation for the expansion and maturation of induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes. These beating nanostructured microcarriers will open uncharted territory in scientific areas spanning from chemistry to biology and medicine leading to the development of a game changing technology for bioreactor-based cell manufacture.
