Founded in 1964, Inserm is a public scientific and technological institute which operates under the joint authority of the French Ministries of Health and Research. The institute is dedicated to biomedical research and human health, and is involved in the entire range of activities from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside. It also partners with the most prestigious research institutions in the world that are committed to scientific challenges and progress in these fields.
The Institute for Experimental Medical Research (IEMR) is Norway’s largest institute for translational cardiac research. The Institute is a department within the University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital, and operates within the framework of the Research strategy of the Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases.
The Leiden Institute of Chemistry (LIC) at the Leiden University is the basis for research and collaborations of the Leiden chemistry groups. Chemistry is the central science enabling a healthy future in a sustainable society. Chemistry researchers at Leiden University take a fundamental approach in finding tailored solutions for complex societal problems in human health and environmental issues.
The Bellin Group, at the University of Padua, uses human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) technology and gene editing tools to study and correct inherited heart diseases. The group has extensive expertise in differentiating hiPSCs into cardiomyocytes and generating 3D multicellular cardiac microtissues to study heart rhythm disorders and test new therapeutic strategies.
The Functional Organic Systems Group focuses on studying the fundamental aspects of molecular self-assembly and applying this knowledge to develop innovative smart systems and functional materials. Their research is particularly centered on supramolecular polymers and nanostructured liquid crystals for next-generation nanomaterials.
